The various collections, sorting and composting operations are helping Herefordshire, Worcestershire and local District Councils achieve current recycling and landfill diversion targets. However, there is still a large quantity of ‘residual waste’ left that cannot readily be recycled, and there are further landfill diversion targets to be met if the Authorities are to avoid substantial financial penalties. Some of this residual waste is presently being taken out-of-county to energy from waste plants, and this will continue until the Councils have local facilties to deal with it.
Our solution is to provide a dedicated Energy-from-Waste (EfW) plant - EnviRecover - using moving grate technology, to recover renewable energy in the form of electricity and heat from this residual waste.

Our proposals for Mercia EnviRecover will be the subject of a detailed planning application (to be submitted in March 2010). The application will include a full Environmental Impact Assessment, together with extensive consultation with all the key statutory agencies, interest groups, and the general public. This consultation gives you the opportunity to shape and inform our final proposal.
The plans and illustrations show our preliminary ideas on layout and what the plant might look like in the context of the local setting.
